GALILEO Troubleshooting

Most students that experience trouble with GALILEO usually are having trouble loggin in. 

Walk them through the following steps to fix their issue:

  1. Make sure they are signing in through Thomas University-USA (NOT OpenAthens-OpenAthens will give you an error message). 
  2. Make sure they are signing in with their Thomas University credentials, the same way you would log into Canvas.  (do not use your complete email address….just first name. last name ex:  Correct:  john.smithIncorrect:  john.smith@student.thomasu.edu) You will use the same password you use to login to Canvas.
  3. If the patron is still receiving an error message after following the above steps, have them clear browser history, occasionally an old page will continue to reload.  Clearing their browser will stop this.
  4. Try a different browser such as Firefox or Safari. 
  5. Patrons can also try different access points or login into Galileo directly, sometimes the access links are experiencing technical difficulties.  They can login to Galileo at:   galileo.usg.edu   Make sure they select the correct institution when accessing directly. 

If a patron is still unable to access GALILEO after following the above steps, a password reset may be needed.  Direct the patron to password reset located on the sign-in page of their Hawklink.
