To start the next page of your Word document, click on the Insert thread.
Make sure that your cursor is at the very end of your Title Page information!
In the Pages section, click on Page Break.
The second page of your Word document should have a Page Number but no Header.
You will need to follow the same steps as before to add the header to the rest of your paper.
In the Header & Footer section, click on Header.
In the drop-down menu that appears, click on Edit Header.
Insert your SHORT TITLE [do NOT make it bold in your Word document].
Use the Tab key on your keyboard until your SHORT TITLE is aligned to the left side of the page.
You should only have to use the Tab key once or twice!
In the Close section, click on Close Header and Footer.
Insert the Title of your paper exactly as it appears on your Title Page.
If your Title took up two lines on your Title Page, then make sure that it takes up two lines on this page!
The line break should be between the same words on both pages!
Use the Enter or Return key on your keyboard 1 time to go to the next line of your Word document.
Align the body of your paper to the left of the page by clicking on the Left paragraph option.
Use the Tab key on your keyboard one time to indent your first paragraph.
Start typing your paper!
When you add your Abstract, it will become the "First Page" (Page 2) of your Word document, coming after your Title Page but before the body of your paper--which will then start on Page 3.
Your References should start on their own page.
To start the next page of your Word document, click on the Insert thread.
Make sure that your cursor is at the very end of your paper!
In the Pages section, click on Page Break.
Click on the Home thread.
Click on the Center paragraph option.
Insert the title of your References page:
Use the Enter or Return key on your keyboard 1 time to go to the next line of your Word document.
Align the rest of your References page to the left of the page by clicking on the Left paragraph option.
Click on the Paragraph Settings icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the Paragraph section.
In the Paragraph pop-up window that appears, click on the drop-down menu underneath Special in the Indentation section.
In the drop-down menu that appears, click on Hanging.
Click on the OK button in the bottom right-hand corner of the Paragraph pop-up window.
Insert your first citation (alphabetical by either the author's last name or the title if there's no known author).
Whenever you add a new citation to your References page, make sure that you keep them in alphabetical order.
