Advanced Search

1. From the GALILEO home page, select the link, Advanced Search below the Search button.

 

2. Enter your search terms into the search builder. Use AND when combining search terms to narrow your search terms. Under Limit your results, select the boxes next to Full Text and Peer Reviewed to find articles available through our library and from scholarly, peer-reviewed sources.

 

 3. Under Publication Date, select a time frame for finding articles depending on the scope and nature of your topic. In this example, we will search the Past 10 years to limit our search to more current research. 

 

4. Under All Fields, you will see options to search your key terms under different fields including All text, Author, and Title. To get as many results as you can when you begin your research, use All Fields. You can go back and revise this to narrow your search later if needed. It is better to start broadly and then narrow your results as you become more adept at using Advanced Searching. 

 

5. Once all of your key words, filters and limiters are chosen, click Search

 

6. From the results screen, you will all of the key words and filters from your search which yield 82,164 results. 

 

7. For this search, we only want to include results from Academic Journals and not other resources. From the drop down menu under Source type, select Academic Journals and then click Apply. This will give us fewer citations in our results list. 

 

8.  As you scroll through your results, you may want to save articles you find  by clicking the ribbon icon. 

 

9. You can also save your articles to folders under Add to project. Choose New project to create a new folder.
