On these pages you'll find quick, simple instructions for formatting your in-text citations, footnotes, endnotes, and references page. Each entry has examples for you to follow as you format your own citations.
There are two main subpages for APA (American Psychological Association): one for citations (the way you refer to a source in the body of your paper) and one for references (the way you list all the sources you used in your paper).
There are several additional subpages that show you how to cite different types of resources.
For excellent, detailed resources on all the different citation manuals go to the Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL). It's an open, easy to use online resource with instructions and examples on how to use all the different citation manuals.
Beware of the cite feature on academic databases! This is a quick way to copy and paste citations into your paper, but you still need to double check that the citation is formatted correctly. This might include changing the case, italics, or quotations of the citation. Compare your copied citation from the databases with the examples on this guide to make sure it's correct!
