ENG 102: Composition II

A continuation and expansion of the skills and principles introduced in ENG 101 through the study and analysis of literature. A major documented paper is required. Mastery of the principles of composition is determined through departmental examination and evaluation.

The Research Paper

The research paper process generally consist of five parts:

  1. Topic Selection: depending on your professor, you may get to choose your own or from a list.>
  2. Preliminary Bibliography: usually a minimum of 10 sources which are preferably scholarly and peer-reviewed.
  3. Annotated Bibliography: usually 5-6 sources from the preliminary bibliography are selected and then condensed.
  4. Thesis and Detailed Outline: usually submitted in the traditional Roman numeral-based outline style.
  5. Research Paper: the final product of the previous four in 800-1000 words with proper citations and Works Cited page.
